M.S. (Skyra) Vassas Ltd, the holding company of the Skyra Vassas group, owns and runs the largest aggregate quarry in Cyprus covering an area about 750.000 m2. The Quarry Reserves amount to about 100 million tons of high quality diabase rock. The Plant installed is one of the largest in capacity in the European Union (1,300 tons per hour). Our products comprise of 15 different single and all-in aggregates.

History

HISTORY OF THE GROUP
Makis Savvides, the founder and chairman of the group commenced operations in 1967 as a contractor on Infrastructure projects and soon after expanded operations to cover construction and quarry works.
In 1991 the holding company M.S. (SKYRA) VASSAS LTD was formed and acquired the largest aggregate quarry on the island. Currently the quarry is extended over an area of 750.000 sq.mtrs. The group is privately owned and belongs to the family of Makis Savvides.
In the last few years the group has established itself as the leading provider of construction materials in Cyprus and has engaged into exports of aggregates (railway ballast) to neighboring countries.
Added value generated as a result of a very successful Vertical Integration with a number of subsidiaries been created in the process to be supportive of the Group’s Core activity.
Group Risk profile, been very moderate throughout its long history, has been further eliminated geographically recently, be constructing and operating of our own port terminal gaining access to the neighboring countries for the export of our products.
Core activities include:
- Extraction, crushing and distribution of high quality diabase and micro gabbro Aggregates suitable for the manufacture of ready mix and asphalt concrete; marine works such as construction of ports, marinas, sea gas pipe lines and power lines; railway ballast bedding.
- The group takes pride in owning the largest quarry on the island with proven reserves in excess of 90m.tons, and is also the owner of the largest centrally controlled crushing plants (1,300 tons per hour) within the European region.
